Welcome to SofaFolk! We miss you, the audience, and the many chance meetings that we usually see happening from the stage, blossoming with every dance. We hope that the feeling is mutual, and that you are just as eager to meet again. Will you join us?
We have gone too long without a balfolk festival. We are about to pull out all the stops, both online and offline, to bring the festival vibe to your home. Let’s see how far we can take this show!
We already have lots of fun components lined up for you:
- Virtual festival grounds to explore; spontaneously meet, play games, catch up, …
- We won’t forsake dancing, but also we don’t want to torment you with viewing balfolk dancing. Come and be inspired by a live modern dance improvisation performance to balfolk music by pro Sophie.
- A festival bracelet by designer-in-residence Maartje, especially for SofaFolk, dedicated to all balfolk missed and that we all hope to enjoy again soon.
- Fresh music; Airboxes and BmB both used this year of Covid well, taking to the studio, so they are ready to live stream new material. BmB will be officially releasing their first CD at SofaFolk.
- While enjoying the new music, go rave on your sofa, or get creative with the colouring picture Auke made and submit it to try and win one of those brand new CD’s.
- ‘No drink, no song’; order your favourite festival fuel and support our friends in the hard hit catering sector. We offer a selection of speciality beer and nibbles.
- Experienced storytellers, spicing up mealtimes and settling you later at night.
